What changes were made to the LEED registration and review fees?
On May 1, 2023, GBCI increased the pricing for LEED registration and certification for the following LEED rating systems and versions: Building Design and Construction (BD+C), Interior Design and Construction (ID+C), Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M), Neighborhood Development (ND), and Cities and Communities, in addition to a LEED volume fee increase.
Why did fees increase?
This is the first pricing increase for LEED since 2016. We remain committed to providing the highest quality services, and this increase in fees will support those efforts.
When did projects need to pay to lock in the older fees?
Projects registered prior to April 30, 2023 were able to generate an invoice with previous registration fees. Payment for registration can be submitted via credit card at the time of registration, or an invoice may be generated to facilitate payment by check, wire, or credit card.
Certification fees at the previous rates must have been locked in by submitting for certification review or by prepaying fees by April 30, 2023. As with registration, payment for certification review can be submitted via credit card, check, or wire.
Once an invoice is generated, payment terms are noted on the invoice. After 60 days, unpaid invoices may be cancelled. On or after May 1st, new invoices will be subject to the new fees.
How do projects prepay certification fees?
Project teams may prepay certification fees prior to submitting for review in LEED Online. To do so, please complete the following steps:
1). Please confirm the Gross Floor Area (GFA) on the 'Details' page of LEED Online. If the GFA is not correct, for LEED v4 and v4.1 projects, you can edit by using the pencil icon on the Details page.
2). Go to the 'Timeline' tab and choose the correct timeline (Combined or Split).
If pursuing Precertification (optional), select Precert + Split or Precert + Combined.
3). Click the 'Generate Pre Payment Invoice' button associated with the appropriate review.
Select the payment type, complete the payment details, and follow payment prompts.
Teams may pay fees instantly via credit card or they can generate an invoice to pay later by any payment method (credit card, check, wire / SEPA / ACH / EFT) depending on the project location.
Once an invoice is generated, payment terms are listed on the invoice.
How do I know which fees my project will be subject to?
LEED registration and certification fees are based on the fees published at the time the project generates an invoice.
