What are the fees associated with EDGE certification?
EDGE projects must pay a registration, certification, and audit fee. The registration and certification fees are paid directly to GBCI as the Certifier. The audit fee is paid directly to the project’s chosen auditor. GBCI registration and certification fees are published on the GBCI EDGE website. Each auditor determines what they will charge for the audit fee.
Projects may also choose to hire a firm to provide EDGE Expert or other consulting services on their project. These optional services can support the project in determining which green design measures a project should embrace and with preparing the application for EDGE certification. These fees are negotiated by, and paid directly to, the firm providing the EDGE Expert or consulting services.
How do I determine the EDGE registration fee for my project?
Registration is a flat fee for any number of buildings located at a single project site, as long as they are all registered at the same time. For projects in India the registration fee is ₹20,000, unless the project is an individual home or single-family dwelling unit smaller than 750 m2 in which case the registration fee is less. For projects in all other countries, the registration fee is $300 USD. The registration fee must be paid for a project to be considered “registered”.
How do I determine the EDGE certification fee for my project?
If your project is located in India, please see the India-specific pricing guidance. For all other projects, see below.
Single buildings:
Certification fees are calculated for each building based on its floor area (in m2), excluding parking, using the appropriate pricing chart on the GBCI EDGE website.
Residential projects with multiple buildings built over multiple years at one project site:
Certification fees are based on the total floor area (in m2), excluding parking, of all buildings completed and submitted for review for each 12-month construction completion period. These fees are calculated using the appropriate pricing chart on the GBCI EDGE website.
EDGE requires that all buildings submit for Final EDGE Certification review within 12 months of practical completion. Therefore, EDGE projects that are completed over multiple years are required to submit for Final EDGE Certification at least once every 12 months. GBCI defines each of these 12-month periods as a “construction completion period”. Calculate your fees using our Excel calculator.

How do I determine the EDGE certification fee for my project located in India?
Individual homes and single-family dwelling units in India:
The certification fee for each individual home or single-family dwelling is calculated separately based on its built-up area (in m2), excluding parking, using the appropriate pricing chart on the GBCI EDGE website. Multiple individual homes may use the pricing chart for multi-dwelling units.
Group housing, multi-dwelling units, and commercial buildings in India:
Certification fees for group housing, multi-dwelling units, and commercial buildings are calculated using the appropriate pricing chart on the GBCI EDGE website. The fees are based on the total floor area (in m2), excluding parking, of all buildings submitted for certification. You can also calculate the fees for your project using this calculator.
Already constructed projects will skip Pre-certification (Design Stage) and pay the total certification fee in a single payment. Projects that skip Pre-certification may benefit from a reduction in their certification timeline and Auditor fees. Projects that pursue Pre-certification (Design Stage) may split their certification fee into two payments – the first payment is due before Pre-certification and the second payment is due before Final EDGE Certification.
