What should I consider before registering for a combined LEED Green Associate/LEED AP with specialty exam?
The combined LEED Green Associate/LEED AP exams provide an opportunity to earn a LEED AP credential on the same date that you earn your LEED Green Associate credential, as both exams are taken during one appointment. The cost of a combined LEED Green Associate/LEED AP exam is $50 less than the total cost of purchasing the two exams separately. Combined exam candidates should be prepared to spend up to 4½ hours to complete both exams and understand that combined exams can only be taken in person at a Prometric test center.
Why can I not take the combined LEED Green Associate/LEED AP with specialty exam remotely?
Online exam restrictions prohibit test-takers from leaving their seat and the view of their camera during their exam appointment. Considering that the combined exam can take up to 4½ hours to complete, they are only available at Prometric test centers, where breaks are permitted.
If I take a combined LEED Green Associate/LEED AP with specialty exam, do I get a break between the two exams?
No, there is no scheduled break between the LEED Green Associate and LEED AP exams. You may get up and leave your seat for an unscheduled break (with permission from the test center staff), but the time allowed for your exam does not change, and the exam timer is not paused while you are away.
What if I pass only one part of the combined exam?
If you pass one part of the combined LEED Green Associate/LEED AP with specialty exam, you will have to retake only the part you failed. Please note that after three unsuccessful attempts within a 12-month period you must wait 90 calendar days before submitting a new registration and payment to GBCI. Candidates must pay the registration fee for each exam attempt.
If I pass the first part (the LEED Green Associate exam) but not the second part (the LEED AP with specialty exam) of a combined exam, am I considered a LEED Green Associate credential holder?
Yes, if you pass the LEED Green Associate portion of the combined exam, you will automatically earn the LEED Green Associate credential. If it does not show up on the credentials page of your account, please contact GBCI to request to have the LEED Green Associate added to your credential account. Once your credential status has been updated, you should be able to submit a new registration for the stand-alone LEED AP exam, if you wish.
If I pass the second part (the LEED AP with specialty exam) of a combined exam but not the first part (the LEED Green Associate exam), do I earn the LEED AP with specialty credential?
If you pass the LEED AP with specialty portion of the exam but fail the LEED Green Associate portion, you will not be awarded a credential, however, you will have 180 calendar days from your original exam date to register for, schedule and pass the stand-alone LEED Green Associate exam. Once you pass your LEED Green Associate exam, please contact us so we can update your credential status within your USGBC user account.
