How much does LEED registration and certification cost?
LEED registration and certification fees may be found on the LEED Certification Fees page.
Registration is a flat fee paid upfront at the time of registration; certification fees are based on your project's rating system, gross floor area and review timeline per the fee schedule published at the time of invoice generation.
Certification fees include both the preliminary and final reviews for either review path (standard or split review).
Recertification registration fees are waived; recertification fees are found on the LEED certification fees page. See Choosing a recertification approach for more information.
Silver or higher level USGBC members receive member pricing. Member pricing also applies to applicable CAGBC and GBC Italia members. If you have any questions about member pricing please contact us.
Fees may be paid in advance or at the time of review submittal.
We would like a price quote for LEED registration and certification fees. How do we get this?
For projects that are already registered in LEED Online, please visit the 'Payments' tab of LEED Online and click on 'Price Estimate' to get a price quote.
Otherwise, please visit the LEED pricing tool and fill in the rating system, gross floor area, and location to generate a price quote.
What is 'gross floor area'?
See the LEED Glossary definition.
What currency are LEED registration and certification fees billed in?
LEED fees are calculated in USD, with exception of projects located in:
- Canada (CAD)
- India (INR)
- Europe and Turkey (EUR)
How do I know which fees my project will be subject to?
LEED registration and certification fees are based on the fees published at the time the project generates an invoice.
Fees based on earlier pricing schedules
When was the most recent LEED registration and review fee increase?
On May 1, 2023, GBCI increased the pricing for LEED registration and certification for the following LEED rating systems and versions: Building Design and Construction (BD+C), Interior Design and Construction (ID+C), Building Operations and Maintenance (O+M), Neighborhood Development (ND), Cities and Communities, in addition to a LEED volume fee increase.
Why did fees increase?
This was the first pricing increase for LEED since 2016. We remain committed to providing the highest quality services, and increases in fees support those efforts.
When did projects need to pay to lock in the older fees?
Teams with projects registered before April 30, 2023 were able to generate an invoice with previous registration fees. Payment for registration can be submitted via credit card at the time of registration, or an invoice may be generated to facilitate payment by check, wire, or credit card.
Certification fees at the previous rates must have been locked in by submitting for certification review or by prepaying fees by April 30, 2023. As with registration, payment for certification review can be submitted via credit card, check, or wire.
Once an invoice is generated, payment terms are noted on the invoice. After 60 days, unpaid invoices may be cancelled.
On or after May 1st, 2023, new invoices are subject to the current fees.
