What is the QR code on my certificate and how does it work?
Credential certificates include a QR code that credential holders can share with employers or on social media platforms, allowing instant verification of authenticity and validity. When scanned, the code directs the user to an official verification page displaying a summary of credential details such as the credential holder's name, credential title, validity period, and current credential status.
The QR code does not share personal data, and verification is only possible when the certificate is voluntarily shared by the credential holder, or when the credential holder has explicitly authorized GBCI to share the credential with a third party, such as an employer.
This secure feature enhances trust and helps prevent fraud. Certificates issued prior to this update remain valid. Credential holders can log in to their credential dashboard at any time to download the current version of their certificate.
