How do I schedule an exam appointment?
Once registered, you can visit GBCI Prometric and click "Schedule" under either the "Test Center Exam" heading or under the "Remotely Proctored Exam" heading depending on whether you wish to take your exam at a Prometric Test Center or at a remote location, respectively.
You may also schedule your exam by logging into your credentials account and clicking either the blue "Schedule/reschedule exam online" button for a remote exam appointment or the "Schedule/reschedule exam at a test center" for an in-person exam appointment. You will use your exam eligibility ID (EID) and the first four letters of your last name to secure your appointment.
After you successfully schedule your exam appointment, you will see a 16-digit confirmation number on the screen, and you will also receive an auto-generated email from Prometric. Record your confirmation number. You will need this confirmation number to confirm, cancel or reschedule your exam appointment.
To watch a video tutorial of the appointment scheduling process, download the "Schedule your Exam" video.
What is an EID?
After you submit your exam registration, you will be provided with an exam eligibility identification (EID) that you will use to schedule an exam appointment with Prometric. An EID typically consists of 13 characters and includes both numbers and letters. If you did not receive an EID after submitting your registration information, please contact GBCI.
What is a confirmation number?
After you schedule an exam appointment with Prometric, you will receive a confirmation number, also called an appointment ID. The confirmation number typically consists of 16 numerical digits. This number will be required to make any changes to your exam appointment or to launch your exam if you decide to take it remotely. If you did not receive a confirmation number after scheduling your exam appointment, please contact GBCI.
Who is the test sponsor?
If you are prompted to select a test sponsor on Prometric's website, you will want to select "Green Business Certification Inc." or "GBCI." GBCI provides independent oversight of professional credentialing programs including LEED, EDGE, SITES, Sustainability Excellence, and Urban Greenhouse Gas Inventory Specialist.
How can I find a test center near me?
To locate a Prometric test center, go to GBCI Prometric and click on "locate" under the "test center exam" heading.
Will I be required to provide biometric data when scheduling or checking in for my exam appointment?
GBCI does not require Prometric to collect any biometric information and none will be collected when you schedule or sit for the exam.
What personal data is collected when scheduling and checking in for my exam appointment?
When scheduling your exam you will be asked to provide your personal information (such as your legal name, address, email address, etc.) in order to validate your identification during the exam check-in process and to provide you with your score report at the end of your exam.
Prometric processes your personal information only for the purposes of registering, scheduling, and administering your exam and processing the results. At no time will your personal information be used by Prometric for any other purpose without your permission. Your personal information, including your test results, will be sent to GBCI for the purpose of providing exam-related information.
In order to proceed with scheduling your LEED exam, consent for collecting your basic personal information is required.
What should I expect when checking in for my exam at a Prometric test center?
After your identification has been confirmed, you will be escorted to a locker to store your belongings. You will have access to your ID and your locker key for the duration of your exam. Then you will go through a security checkpoint, where you will be asked to empty your pockets; remove eyeglasses, roll down shirtsleeves, remove watches and fitness trackers/monitors, remove jewelry*, and roll up pant legs for inspection; and pass through a metal detector. Upon completion of the enhanced security check-in, you will be escorted to a workstation by test center staff.
*Religious jewelry and wedding rings are exempt.
Will I be recorded when taking my exam?
For security purposes at test centers, as well as remote locations, your exam session will be video recorded (including audio recordings). This is necessary in order to protect the security of the test content and the integrity of the test delivery experience. Test center recordings will be strictly limited to authorized personnel and retained for a period as allowed by local applicable law. Remotely proctored exam recordings will also be strictly limited to authorized personnel and retained for a period of thirty (30) days.
In order to proceed with scheduling your LEED exam, consent for video recording is required.

How can I change my test center exam appointment to a remotely proctored exam?
If you already have an exam scheduled at a Prometric test center and wish to change the delivery method to an online exam, you will first need to cancel your original appointment by providing your confirmation number. Once that appointment has been canceled, you can then schedule your online exam using the exam eligibility ID (EID) that was provided after submitting your exam registration information.
Before deciding if an online exam is right for you, please complete a systems readiness check and review the testing environment requirements.
How do I confirm the date and time of my scheduled exam?
Upon scheduling your LEED exam with Prometric, you will receive an “Appointment Confirmation” email sent by Prometric (donotreply@prometric.com) that will confirm the date and time you selected, as well as other important information.
You can also confirm your exam appointment details by visiting prometric.com/gbci and clicking "confirm." You will be required to enter the 16-digit confirmation number included in your “Appointment Confirmation” email, as well as the first four characters of your last name. If you are not able to locate the confirmation email, please check your spam, junk or clutter folders
My exam appointment got canceled by Prometric, what should I do?
Due to circumstances outside of their control (e.g., weather-related closures), Prometric will occasionally cancel a candidate’s exam appointment. If this is the case, you will receive an email cancelation from Prometric and will have the option to schedule your exam as a remotely proctored online exam or at a Prometric test center. Allow up to 5 business days for Prometric’s scheduling system to process the cancelation updates. Once the system is updated, you will be able to self-serve and reschedule your exam. Use your current EID when rescheduling your exam.
I have a GBCI exam scheduled with Prometric and would like to cancel/reschedule, due to concerns about COVID-19.
If you have scheduled a LEED Green Associate or a LEED AP with specialty stand-alone exam at a Prometric test center, and you are hesitant to sit for a person exam due to Covid-related concerns, you can either reschedule it for a later date at the test center or reschedule to a remotely proctored online exam. To reschedule a remotely proctored online exam, you will first need to cancel your exam appointment at the test center, then follow this link to schedule your remotely proctored online exam.
Will I be required to provide proof of vaccination in order to test?
Proof of vaccination is no longer required at any Prometric test centers.
Are there any times when LEED exam appointments are unavailable?
LEED exams are available continuously throughout the year without interruption. If you find that there are no available appointments in your area, please contact us.
I am unable to schedule an appointment within my exam eligibility period. Can I get an extension?
Yes, please contact us with your full name and EID number. We will be happy to provide you with a one-time courtesy extension. To better assist you, please indicate the month when you plan to take your exam and if you intend to take your exam at a Prometric test center or a remote location.
What identification (ID) is required to check in for my exam?
Your ID must have your name printed in Roman characters* and match exactly with the name on your exam registration. The ID presented must also:
- Be in the original form (laminated or plasticized) it was issued. No photocopies or duplicates will be accepted.
- Be valid. The ID must include an issue date and a future expiration date; the ID cannot be expired.
- Include a recent, recognizable photo.
- Include a signature.**
*It is acceptable if the name printed on your ID includes diacritics (accent marks) provided that the Roman Characters match.
**The following IDs are allowed without a signature: Hong Kong Passport, Saudi Arabia Passport and National ID, China Passport and National ID, Singapore National ID.
If you legally have only one name, “No Name” should be entered in the first name or surname (last name) field, as applicable, in your USGBC user account settings before submitting your exam registration (see this FAQ for additional context).
If your main form of ID does not meet all of the criteria above, you may present a secondary ID that fulfills the missing elements. Refer to the Candidate Handbook (LEED Green Associate) (LEED AP) for additional information and contact GBCI at least fifteen (15) days prior to your exam appointment if you find that your ID does not meet all of the requirements or that the name on your ID does not match the name on your registration.
To watch a video tutorial of the appointment check-in process, download the "Checking in for your Exam" video.
What should I do if I miss my exam or cancel my appointment outside of policy?
As stated in our rescheduling and cancelation policy above, if you miss your appointment, you forfeit your exam registration. Please contact GBCI to have the exam record removed from your USGBC user account so that you can submit a new exam registration and payment.
I canceled my appointment according to policy. Why can't I schedule a new appointment?
If you cancel your appointment at least 3 days before you were scheduled to take your exam, you should be able to use your exam eligibility ID (EID) to schedule a new appointment. If Prometric's system does not accept your EID, please contact GBCI for assistance.
