What is the passing score for the SEA or SEP exam? What information will I be able to see about my exam results?
Each exam requires that a majority of scored items be answered correctly in order to pass. However, the specific passing score is not shared with candidates.
Results for the SEA and SEP exam are reported as pass or fail, and individual scores on items or sections are not published.
These policies are a result of the methodology used when the SEA and SEP exams were developed by a committee of subject matter experts in consultation from a professional psychometrician. Scoring policies can vary across different credentialing programs, including other programs administered by GBCI.
Can I retest if I failed my exam?
If your fail your first attempt at taking the exam, you may register and pay again in the same way as initial registration. After three unsuccessful exam attempts in a 12-month period, you must wait 90 calendar days before submitting a new registration and payment to GBCI. You must pay the exam registration fee for each exam attempt. The 12-month period begins on the date of the first failed attempt.
