How do I register for the exams?
The SEA and SEP exams can be registered for by logging into your GBCI user account and visiting the Credentials Overview page. You will see buttons to register for either the SEA or SEP exam.
When you register for an exam, make sure your name is entered as it appears exactly on the legal ID that you will be using when you take your exam. If your native language utilizes non-Roman characters, be sure to use Roman characters when entering your name when registering for the exam.
After you complete registration and payment, you will be given a unique eligibility ID which will be available in your user account. You may use that eligibility ID to schedule your exam. SEP candidates will not be provided with an eligibility ID until after their application is accepted.
What language are the exams available in?
The SEA and SEP exams are available in English.
How can I take the exams?
You have two options to take the SEA and SEP exams. You may take each exam either at a Prometric Test Center or through a remotely proctored internet-enabled (online) location of your choice using Prometric’s ProProctor tool.

Can I ask for Testing Accommodations when I take my exam?
GBCI complies with the provisions of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you require testing accommodations, you must check the box that says, “Yes, I need testing accommodations,” when you register for the exam. You and your healthcare provider each need to complete the following forms, the Candidate Form and the Provider Form, to document the disability and the need for accommodation.
For remote proctored online exams, Prometric may not be able to accommodate all requests since candidates are taking the exam in a remote location.
Each request is evaluated individually and may take up to ten (10) business days. Your request may only be sent via email to accommodations@gbci.org or faxed to (202) 545-3708. Do not mail any documents or send them to gbci.org/contact. You will be contacted by email with the status of your request.
How do I schedule an SEA exam?
Once you have registered for the exam, visit the Prometric website to schedule your exam. You may take your exam either at either a Prometric Test Center or at a remote location via a remotely-proctored online exam.
After you successfully schedule your exam appointment, you will see a 16-digit confirmation number on the screen, and you will also receive an auto-generated email from Prometric. Record your confirmation number. You will need this confirmation number to confirm, cancel or reschedule your exam appointment.

How can I find a Prometric test center near me?
To locate a Prometric test center, visit the Prometric website and click on "locate" under the "test center exam" heading.
How do I schedule a remotely-proctored online exam?
If you would like to schedule the remotely-proctored online option, you will first need to ensure that your computer meets the technical specifications by completing the System Readiness Check and ensure the space where you intend to take your exam meets the testing environment requirements. Once you have verified your computer meets the minimum system requirements click here to schedule your online exam.
Be sure to note that time of day that you are selecting (a.m. or p.m.). Prometric is an international company that offers appointments to suit many different time zones. The early morning (a.m.) hours are displayed first. Click "select more" to load additional times available in the afternoon and evening (p.m.) hours.

Does my appointment time reflect my local time zone?
When scheduling an online exam appointment, the time zone of your current location is automatically displayed. If that is not the time zone in which you will be testing, you will need to select the correct time zone in the drop-down box before proceeding.
Will my appointment time be impacted by the change between daylight savings time and standard time?
Prometric's scheduling system will automatically account for time changes due to the implementation of Daylight Savings Time. The time of your exam appointment will not change because of this occurrence.
What is GBCI’s reschedule or cancellation policy?
You may reschedule or cancel your exam up to 45 days prior to your exam without incurring a fee. Details of the updated policy are listed below.
- If you reschedule or cancel an exam between 30-45 days before the scheduled appointment, you will be charged a $30 fee.
- If you reschedule or cancel an exam fewer than 30 days, but more than three days before the scheduled appointment, you will be charged a $60 fee.
- You cannot reschedule or cancel your exam after midnight on the third day before your scheduled appointment.
- If you miss your exam date or fail to reschedule or cancel at least 3 days prior to your appointment, you will forfeit the entire exam registration fee. See Table 2.
You can reschedule or cancel your exam appointment by going to https://www.prometric.com/exams/gbci. You must have the 16-digit confirmation number you received from Prometric when you scheduled your exam.
When you reschedule your appointment, you will receive a new exam appointment confirmation email from Prometric. If you cancel your appointment, you will receive a cancelation notice. If you do not, contact Prometric immediately to confirm your exam was rescheduled or canceled.

Can I get a refund for my exam?
You can request a refund for your exam purchase within 12 months of the date of registration, as long as there is no exam appointment scheduled with Prometric.
If you have an exam appointment scheduled, you will first need to cancel your appointment. After your appointment has been canceled, you can contact us to request a refund. Note: a fee is charged for any exam appointments that are canceled within 4-45 days of the exam date; cancelation of an appointment 3 or fewer calendar days prior to the appointment results in a forfeiture of the entire registration fee.

If your exam eligibility period is ending soon, you can request a one-time extension of six months. Please contact us before the end of your exam eligibility period to request an extension.

How do I change my remotely-proctored online exam appointment to an in-person exam at a test center?
If you have scheduled a remotely-proctored online exam and would like to instead take it at a Prometric test center, you will first need to cancel your existing exam appointment using your confirmation number. Then follow this link to schedule a test center exam using your exam eligibility ID (EID).

Can I take a test drive of the exam?
You have the option of taking a Test Drive which will provide you the opportunity to take a 30-minute ‘dry-run” of the complete check-in and test delivery process through Prometric’s test centers or online via the ProProctor platform. How do I confirm the date and time of my scheduled exam?
Upon scheduling your LEED exam with Prometric, you will receive an “Appointment Confirmation” email sent by Prometric (donotreply@prometric.com) which will include your exam date and time. Note that the exam time will be written in the 24-hour notation in the form hh:mm (e.g., 15:00 to denote 3:00 P.M, or 03:00 to denote 3:00 A.M.) along with your time zone.
Another way to confirm your exam appointment date and time is to visit prometric.com/gbci and confirm your exam appointment by entering your 16-digit confirmation number included in your “Appointment Confirmation” email and entering the last four characters of your last name. If you are not able to locate the confirmation email, please check your spam, junk or clutter folders.
My exam appointment got canceled by Prometric, what should I do?
Due to circumstances outside of their control (e.g., weather-related closures), Prometric will on occasion cancel a candidate’s exam appointment. If this is the case, you will receive an email cancellation from Prometric and will have the option to schedule your exam as a remotely proctored online exam or at a Prometric test center.
Please allow up to 5 business days for Prometric’s scheduling system to process the cancellation updates. Once the system is updated, you will be able to self-serve and reschedule your exam. Please use your current EID when rescheduling your exam.
