What performance metrics are tracked by the PERFORM program?
The program supports 20 portfolio-level performance metrics across eight categories: emissions, energy, water, waste, health, resilience, biodiversity and social impact.
Teams establish:
- Which performance metrics to track
- Performance approaches for each metric, as defined in the PERFORM Performance Metrics document.
- Target performance outcome
- Target date
- When and if to submit for performance verification

How many performance metrics must be tracked?
A portfolio should select at least one of the 20 performance metric to track to effectively engage with the program. Additionally, one or more performance metric(s) can optionally be submitted to receive third-party verification from GBCI for achieving customer-selected milestones and demonstrating improvement.
How are performance metrics tracked?
Arc provides a variety of features that enable teams to visualize and report against their performance metrics and targets. In addition to target setting functions, teams can also set interim targets, financial details, and performance baselines for each metric, allowing them to track incremental progress towards the end goal. Portfolio performance progress can be tracked and measured with one of two approaches.
- Performance Approach A (absolute performance): A single value of performance that an organization would like to track and verify (e.g., “75% total waste diversion was achieved”).
- Performance Approach B (performance change): Change in performance over an organization-defined baseline year (e.g., “a 10% reduction in water usage was achieved this year as compared to last year”).
