How does the verification process work?
PERFORM offers participants an optional third-party verification of portfolio-level performance metrics determined by the portfolio owner.
Program participants create performance targets in Arc and will upload portfolio-level and property-level evidence to demonstrate that the selected performance targets have been met.
After a verification agreement is signed and the verification fee is paid, GBCI will complete a technical review the documentation submitted. See the PERFORM Program Guide for more information about this process.
Once the Final Review Report has been issued by GBCI and accepted by the portfolio team, GBCI will provide a Letter of Verification as a formal statement confirming the verification status of the performance metrics submitted by the organization.
Where can I learn more about the GBCI Verification Protocol?
PERFORM Verification includes a third-party review by GBCI of the verification evidence (documentation of measured and calculated data) provided by an organization in accordance with the requirements outlined in the PERFORM Performance Metrics. The review procedure is informed by ISO/IEC 17029:2019 Conformity assessment - General principles and requirements for validation and verification bodies, and further described in GBCI Verification Protocols.
What evidence and documentation is required for verification?
A completed profile must be uploaded in Arc PERFORM platform to request verification, including:
- portfolio details,
- at least one performance metric,
- at least one completed dedicated target,
- portfolio-level evidence, and
- property-level evidence.
For more details about the evidence that must be provided, please see the PERFORM Performance Metrics.
When and how can a portfolio submit a performance metric for verification?
Participants choose when and how often to submit for verification of any of the performance metrics, by:
- Selecting at least one performance metric and creating a target in Arc, and
- Uploading portfolio-level evidence and property-level evidence.
Participants may submit one or more performance metrics for verification as soon as your team has entered the necessary performance data associated with your portfolio and checked it for completeness and accuracy.
If you have a question for GBCI about the verification process or you are ready to verify please contact us.
If my portfolio receives a verification for a performance metric, can I apply for a new verification of the same metric?
Yes. Participants choose when and how often to submit for verification of any of the performance metrics.
What is included in the Verification Letter?
Once the final Verification Report has been accepted, GBCI will provide a Letter of Verification as a formal statement confirming the verification status of the performance metrics submitted by the organization. The Verification Report and Verification Letter will include the portfolio name, specific performance metric, scope of the portfolio, list of properties included, period reviewed, and specific claim being verified along with the date of verification. Organizations are encouraged to promote their verification using USGBC promotional resources and in adherence with USGBC Trademark Policy and Branding Guidelines.
What data security measures are in place for PERFORM?
