Selecting a certification timeline
How do I select a certification timeline option?
To learn about timeline options, see the Guide to LEED Certification: Commercial.
Select your team's preferred certification timeline at the top of the Timeline page in LEED Online:
By default, the review type is set to "Precert + Split" or "Precert + Standard". If your team does not plan to pursue precertification, then either the "Combined", "Split", or "Standard" option should be selected.
How do I change my project's certification timeline?
On the project's Timeline page, you can toggle between split and combined. This selection may be changed until you prepay and/or submit it for your first review phase.
If your team has prepaid or already submitted for review and would like to change from "Split" to "Combined" timeline or vice versa, please contact us and provide the LEED project name and ID number.
Selecting when to submit credits
Do design credits have to be submitted during the design application in a split review?
No, any credit you submit must have complete documentation to show it meets the requirements. If a design credit is incomplete, you can choose to submit it later during the Construction Review.
To submit for Design Review, your application must include full documentation for at least one design credit or prerequisite.
Can the project defer a credit to a later phase of review?
Yes, if you want to wait and submit a credit later, make sure it's not marked "Ready for Review" when you start the review submittal process. Only credits marked "Ready for Review" in the LEED Online Credits page will be reviewed at that time.
Do credits have to be submitted for the same Preliminary and Final Review?
No. Each credit can go through two rounds of review—as long as it's submitted by the Preliminary Construction Review phase.
If a credit is denied after two rounds, you’ll need to file an appeal for Supplemental Review to try again.
Can the project skip a review phase?
Yes, the project can skip a review and accept the points that are currently anticipated or awarded by clicking on the "Skip" button.
Before proceeding, please contact us if you need help changing any credits that are "Pending".
Certification review timelines and submittal deadlines
Where can I find information about certification review timelines and submittal deadlines?
See the applicable Guide to LEED Certification.
How long after construction ends can a LEED BD+C or ID+C project apply for certification?
According to the "Deadline for submitting for review" section of the Guide to LEED Certification: Commercial, "For LEED BD+C and LEED ID+C rating systems, you will need to submit for your construction phase Review (Standard Preliminary Review or Construction Preliminary Review) no later than two years after your project is substantially completed (the date on which your building receives a certificate of occupancy or similar official indication that it is fit and ready for use)".
Post-review
Where can I obtain a copy of my project's LEED Certification Review Report?
The report is available for download on the "Timeline" page by clicking on the "Review report" button.
How do I access documentation from past reviews for an active project?
The snapshot button on the "Timeline" page will generate a zipped file of submitted documentation for a specific review phase. It takes a few moments to generate the zip file. Sign out and log back in. You’ll receive an alert when your snapshot is ready.
How do I access documentation after my project has accepted its certification?
See "How can I "Download All" of our project documentation from our certified LEED project?".
