The LEED Campus Guidance requires a list of the registered projects to which the campus credits will apply. What if I can't register all projects pursuing LEED certification at the time of master site review submittal?
Project teams are encouraged to coordinate the registration of the master site with those LEED projects that will be taking advantage of the campus credits contained within the master site so that all projects are held to the same addenda. Please remember that all LEED projects are held to addenda released prior to a project's registration date.
USGBC and GBCI realize that project teams may not have all of their projects registered at the time of the master site review submittal. If this is the case, provide a list of registered projects and of projects expected to be registered, anticipated registration dates, and a schematic site plan clearly labeling all projects that are registered and/or will be registered in the future.
My LEED campus boundary includes projects using different rating systems. Can I use the same master site to document campus credits for all buildings within my LEED campus boundary?
It depends on the rating systems used. Projects registered under LEED Design and Construction rating systems (BD+C and ID+C) and LEED Operations and Maintenance (O+M) rating systems cannot be included in the same master site, but a master site can contain projects registered under both BD+C and ID+C rating systems. For example, projects registered under LEED BD+C: New Construction and LEED ID+C: Commercial Interiors can use the same master site, but no more than three different rating system adaptations can be used with a single Master Site. If the credit requirements vary by adaptation, project teams must document a campus credit using the most stringent requirements.
How do I transfer completed form information from the Master Site to the campus project credit without having to re-input and re-upload?
There’s no need to transfer documentation in the campus project’s scorecard. On the campus project’s scorecard, select the master site you wish to reference via the dropdown menu to the right of the credit name. By default, this dropdown will say “project credit,” indicating that the credit is being attempted within the campus project and is not referencing a pre-approved Master Site credit. Selecting a Master Site ID in this dropdown indicates to the reviewer that you are claiming that master site credit, instead of documenting it in the campus project.

I have a master site that has gone through review in the older version of LEED Online using the Block feature and associated functionality. Can I register campus projects in LEED Online that utilize credits that were preapproved in the master site?
Existing Master Sites that were registered as block projects in the previous version of LEED Online (LOv3) can still be accessed and used to pursue the campus approach. To access them, go to usgbc.org/leedonline and click on "Blocks" in the right-hand panel. However, it is no longer possible to register new Blocks or new Block Projects in LEED Online. New campus projects should use the new Campuses section and functionality of LEED Online to set up their campus, master site, and campus projects.
Can I reference campus credits documented in the master site during a LEED precertification phase?
No. Campus credits documented in a master site can only be referenced during a full LEED certification phase. However, each precertification project may indicate the intent to use a campus approach for pertinent campus credits during its precertification review.
Can I submit a master site for LEED precertification review?
No, although each individual Campus Project can pursue precertification, master sites cannot be submitted for precertification review. They can only undergo design, construction, or combined (i.e., standard) certification reviews.
Can I use a v4.1 credit substitution in a v4 master site?
Yes. When you intend to use a v4.1 credit substitution for a campus credit in your Master Site, you should only opt for the v4.1 credit substitution in the Master Site, not in the related Campus Project. In the Master Site, please annotate the Special Circumstances on the credit form to inform the review team that you are substituting. Then, following the instructions in this article, complete and download the pertinent v4.1 credit form from the sample forms library and upload a saved copy to your Master Site in LEED Online.
In the campus project(s), simply use the process explained here to designate that credit as the one you are claiming from the Master Site. Do NOT use the icon on the right side of the Credits tab to indicate that the campus project is using a v4.1 credit substitution.
