When can I begin accessing my subscription?
Upon purchase by credit card, you will have access to your subscription when the payment has cleared our system, typically within 24 hours. You can access courses by clicking on the course title from your account. You can also access subscription courses from the course catalog. If you are paying with a check or by wire transfer, please contact education@usgbc.org for assistance with access.
With whom may I share my access?
For individuals and organizations
Subscriptions are licensed for individual use and may not be shared.
For USGBC communities
USGBC communities may access the courses for display only to attendees of official educational events held by a community for a public audience, so long as a community maintains the quality and integrity and does not alter the overall educational products distributed.
A USGBC community shall manage all aspects of registration for such educational events. Communities may charge attendees a fee for the display of USGBC webinars at community education events. A community must collect authorized user information in the “USGBC Roster Form” (provided by USGBC) and return it to USGBC within 14 calendar days of the educational event. A community also must follow all reasonable USGBC directions for completing the USGBC Roster Form. No attendees of community events may directly access any USGBC Webinar.
Communities can host these events as virtual events. They do need to host sessions as an event rather than provide participants with access to an archive because of the rules around receiving continuing education credits by attending a “live” session vs. viewing an archive. Communities may host virtual events and will need to use virtual meeting software such as WebEx or GoToMeeting (or many others available) to do so.
Does a subscription include access to the LEED v4 web-based reference guide?
Yes, access to the LEED v4 web-based reference guide is included with the subscription for individual subscribers and Platinum members.
Is the subscription for a calendar year or 365 days from the date of purchase?
Subscriptions are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. Please note: access associated with a membership benefit is valid through the membership renewal date of the company.
What content is included in the subscription, and how often are new courses added?
The subscription contains more than 1000 hours of green building and sustainability courses. New courses are added to the subscription weekly throughout the year.
The subscription contains courses created by USGBC, GBCI, and USGBC Education Partners. In addition, the subscription for individual subscribers and Platinum members includes access to the LEED v4 web-based reference guide.
How do I report CE hours taken through the subscription?
For LEED credential holders, USGBC will upload your CE hours into your Credentialing account automatically upon passing the course quiz. You’ll also have access to a personalized certificate upon completion of each course.
For AIA credentials, add your AIA number to your USGBC account to enable automated reporting. Please allow for 10 business days after you complete a course (passing the quiz) for it to be added to your AIA account. SITES APs and WELL APs must self-report CMP activities earned on usgbc.org. This applies to courses taken through usgbc.org, Greenbuild sessions, and regional USGBC courses for SITES and WELL. To self-report CMP activities for SITES, log into your SITES Online account. To self-report CMP activities for WELL, log into your WELL account.
For local USGBC communities
Local USGBC communities wishing to utilize the subscription to host events and report attendee hours for these events must purchase the subscription for local USGBC communities.
For LEED and AIA credentials, a USGBC community must collect attendee information in the “USGBC Roster Form” (provided by USGBC) and return the roster as an editable excel file to USGBC within 14 calendar days of the educational event. USGBC communities also must distribute certificates of completion to event attendees. Request your USGBC community's event roster and certificate templates by emailing education@usgbc.org after purchasing the subscription, with the subject line "USGBC Community Subscriber: Roster and Certificate Needed." USGBC communities must complete the template provided by USGBC in order for hours to be reported.
What is the average length of courses in the subscription?
Course lengths in the subscription generally range from 0.5 to 3.0 hours.
How do I access my subscription?
For organizations with membership-based access
All employees of Platinum level member organizations have automatic, unlimited free access to the subscription and LEED v4 web-based reference guide. Employees can go to usgbc.org, login, click their name or photo at the top right corner of the page, and click "Education" from the drop-down list to access the course catalog and the web-based reference guide.
Member organizations at the Gold and Silver levels have a set number of hours of access within the subscription. The primary contact (or anyone to whom the primary contact has given the authority to "manage users") may distribute those hours by going to usgbc.org, logging in, clicking their name or photo at the top right corner of the page, selecting "Education" from the drop-down list, and clicking "Manage Users." There is an option to either allow all employees access to the hours or add specific employees by their email addresses.
For higher education institutions
Higher education institutions with Gold level USGBC membership receive specialized access to USGBC's education platform through the campus subscription. In addition to the standard membership benefits, the campus subscription provides access to USGBC's education subscription for university-affiliated accounts of all staff, faculty, and students.
To access education courses with the campus subscription, users must be logged into their usgbc.org account using an email address connected to their institution's membership. Campus subscriptions only apply to individual campuses and are not shared across campuses within a school system.
More information about the campus subscription and how to purchase one for your school can be found on the campus subscription page.
I want to purchase access for my company. How do I share access with my colleagues?
Subscriptions are sold in terms of individual access points. Purchase a subscription.
Bulk discounts are available for companies purchasing multiple subscriptions. You may purchase multiple subscriptions through your account by indicating the desired number of subscriptions on the payment form or contacting education@usgbc.org for assistance with a custom invoice.
Once you have purchased multiple subscriptions, go to usgbc.org, click on your name or photograph at the top right, select "Education" from the drop-down list, and then click "Manage Users." This will allow you to assign your subscriptions to your colleagues. This quick video walks through this process.
